Bone Marrow Transplant
Centers
The images you look at every day in the transplant unit hold the power to transform the experience. My room was filled with pictures, quilts, and images that gave me the inspiration to fight, to persevere, and to trust. My art quilts, such as the 100 Days Calendar, "All Will Be Well", or "God Suffers Too" were created out of the profound experience of preparing for BMT, and it has been gratifying to me that they speak to fellow survivors, members of the BMT team, and anyone undergoing a formidable challenge. The cost for commissioning a major work would range from $1000-3000. Please contact me for further information. |

Bone Marrow Transplant Survivors
The BMT survivor's shadow box contains many of the artifacts of my journey with leukemia, including my ID bracelet, capsules of Gleevec, a list of things to put in storage for awhile, pictures of bulbs, and a hospital gown laden with medals and 5 stars. I find that my shadow box honors my experience as a cancer survivor in a life-affirming way, much more so than packing my memories away in a drawer.
A similar survivor's box could be created for you, or if you are a family member, for your loved one. This would involve a collaborative process—conversations and a gathering together of the themes, quotes, pictures, objects that made your journey interesting and unique. Contact me to discuss what you would like to display in your survivor's box, and we will work from there.
